Mucosal Immunity

Most pathogens enter through mucosal surfaces, yet few vaccines are designed to generate mucosal immunity.  Next Frontiers Advisors, was commissioned by the Wellcome Trust and the Novo Nordisk Foundation to conduct a comprehensive Landscape Review of Vaccine-Induced Mucosal Immunity, which reviewed the current status of mucosal vaccine development, and provides a series of actionable recommendations for accelerating development of next-generation vaccines.

The report outlines a five-part strategy to generate data, deepen scientific understanding, incentivize public-private partnerships, and accelerate product development to harness mucosal immunity for improved prevention against respiratory, GI and GU pathogens.
